Going off-roading is fun way to spend time outdoors while tackling what Mother Nature throws at your ride. And any off-roader knows you are going to get stuck. The question then is how do you get unstuck? The Superwinch EPi9.0 will get you unstuck and back on the trial.

Superwinch EPi 9.0 Winch

The Superwinch EPi 9.0 winch is great way for getting unstuck.

The Superwinch is built by an American company that manufactures the winches overseas in China. This means that typically they have a lower price than other made in the U.S. winches while they might have some quality issues. While the Superwinch EPi9.0 has the lower price, the lack of quality simply isn’t there. Their product is boxed smartly and doesn’t suffer from any Chinese quality issues that other products do.

Product Features
The winch is made of high quality parts and comes ready to go right out of the box. The EP-series winches have a 3-stage planetary gear train, automatic load-holding brake, sealed switching, freespooling, power IN and Out and a roller fairlead standard. Also, the EPi 9.0 series has an additional 25 feet of rope versus the EP series. The Superwinch has a really fast no-load line speed of 44 feet per minute. It is considered to be a very strong and durable winch for the money. However, it tends to be really loud noise level during operation and tends to run relatively hot versus other models. It comes with a remote control that has a 12-foot cord attached. The winch has a nice gloss black finish on it as well.

The Superwinch includes:

  • Pull rating (lb): 9,500
  • Remote: 12-ft hand-held remote switch
  • Drive gear: 3-stage planetary
  • Gear reduction: 156:1
  • Motor (hp): 4.6
  • Cable diameter (in): 21⁄64
  • Cable length (ft): 100
  • Shipping weight (lb): 108
  • Battery cables (AWG): 2
  • No-load line speed (ft/min): 44

Most users of the Superwinch find that it is very comparable to the well-known Warn 9.5 XP winch. It is able to handle many of the same pulls and works very quickly. Performance combined with a very user friendly remote control makes the winch rank highly versus others.

The only really downsides of the winch is that it is loud and runs very hot. However, when you consider that the retail price of $999.99 is several hundreds of dollars less than the Warn, it is a great alternative. It also comes with a 3-year warranty on the S3 Solenoid which Superwinch proclaims is the best solenoid on the market. Superwinch also says that their warranty is one of the industry’s best.

The Superwinch EPi9.0 is really a great option versus the Warn 9.0 XP. If you are the off-roader looking to save some money, the Superwinch is really a great winch option for the dollar.
